Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) and the City Government of Manila under the leadership of Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, forged a powerful partnership to commemorate the 38th International Coastal Cleanup Celebration on 16 September 2023. The event, held at the iconic Baseco Esplanade, showcased their shared commitment to environmental sustainability and the preservation of our coastal ecosystems.
The International Coastal Cleanup Celebration, a global movement organized by the Ocean Conservancy, aims to raise awareness about the importance of keeping our coastlines clean and free from pollution. With the support of AMC and the City of Manila, this year’s celebration reached new heights in terms of participation and impact with more than 3,800 volunteers designated along Baseco Beach, Baywalk in Roxas Boulevard, and different esteros and waterways of Manila.
“Ngayon tayo’y nagsama-samang muli sa taunang International Coastal Cleanup Day bilang tugon sa patuloy na paglala ng polusyon sa ating katubigan. Kung anoman po ang gagawin natin ngayon, sana ituloy-tuloy po natin nang sama-sama,” Mayor Honey Lacuna said as she expressed her gratitude for the success of the cleanup drive.
“Sa lahat ng dumayo pa rito sa Baseco lalo na sa mga volunteers, maraming-maraming salamat po!” Mayor Honey Lacuna exclaimed.
