AMC rolls out ALASKABUHAYAN Livelihood Program in Rosario, Batangas

On 23 February 2022, Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) kicked off the AlasKabuhayan Livelihood and Nutrition Program for this year in collaboration with the Women Empowerment in Rosario for Inclusivity, Solidarity and Equality (WeRise) and Masflex Cookware. The event was held in Rosario, Batangas. There will be a 2nd leg in San Juan, Batangas on 8 March 2022.

 

WeRise is a women-led community organization in the town of Rosario, Batangas which strive to promote its advocacies such as Women Empowerment, Women’s Health, and Women Livelihood. WeRise also  build strong relationships with organizations to ensure fast and efficient and adequate access to health and education services. The organization supports the communities  by conducting livelihood trainings such as AlasKabuhayan, most especially the spouses of both farmers and fisherfolks who were severely affected by the pandemic.

 

 

A total of 150 participants joined in an exciting and interactive live cooking demonstration led by Chef Christopher Padilla. The crowd’s favorite recipes such as the Chicken Ala King Empanada Beef Creamy Caldereta, Fish Sipo Egg and Ube Macapuno Scramble were highlighted by using Alaska Milk products such as Alaska Classic Evaporada, Alaska Creamy Beef Evap and Alaska Ube Macapuno Pinoy Flavor-hits.

 

 

The event was graced by Alaska Milk’s Corporate Affairs Director Atty. Maria Angela Esquivel along with Regulatory Affairs Manager Ann Villanueva.

 

“Iba ang tibay ng resilience ng mga kakabaihan at regardless kahit ano pa man ang inyong kasarian, gawin natin ang mga trabaho at let’s mindset ourselves para pagsikapan na mapabuti ang ating sitwasyon.” Atty. Esquivel shared to the audience in her opening remarks.

 

 

The event was also attended by the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) OIC Batangas Provincial Director Ms. Leila Cabreros and Division Chief Ms. Carmen Garcia wherein they presented the key factors and the proper process on developing entrepreneurial mindset.

 

 

Among the audience is Valeri Mirdanielle Javier, a 15-year-old teen entrepreneur and currently studying as a Grade 9 student in Rosario, Batangas. What started to be a simple online business selling crinkles turned into a successful move not only for her but to her family as well. Ever since her desire to have enough food for her birthday and to be able to help her parents financially, Valerie pursued on starting a small food business.

 

 

Ang gusto ko lang is makapag-inspire ng mga tao na kahit bata kagaya ko o matanda, kaya niyo pong mag-business. Dapat ay mayroon kayong tiwala sa sarili n’yo na kaya n’yo.” she said.

 

All participants received Alaska Starter Kits, which contain Alaska products that were used in the cooking demonstration. Masflex also gave the participants cookware and kitchenware to supplement their cooking equipment at home.

 

AMC, through its AlasKabuhayan CSR programs, remains committed to go the extra mile in supporting and partnering with numerous communities nationwide.
